Michael Ferro has found great opportunity to give back to his community, offering funding and support to numerous charities and nonprofit organizations.

One of his most recent and noted contributions was a $1 million gift to the Capital Gazette Families Fund through the Ferro Foundation. The money will go towards providing aid to survivors and families of the victims of the tragic shooting that occurred on June 28, 2018 at the Capital Gazette offices in Annapolis, Maryland.

Michael Ferro is also listed on the Metro Honorary Leadership Board for the WINGS Program, a nonprofit organization working to provide housing, education, clothing, food, and other integrated services to victims of domestic violence and abuse.

He founded and donated $2 Million to the Northwestern University Garage Entrepreneur Innovation Center & Incubator to support entrepreneurial prowess.

Ferro has been a member of numerous philanthropic boards including the Lurie Children’s Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Foundation, The Chicago Community Trust, Big Shoulders Foundation, After School Matters, as well as the Museum of Science & Industry.

ADA 25 Advancing Leadership has developed a new award in honor of Michael Ferro, a leader and mentor to many. Member and board director of ADA 25 Advancing Leadership, John Tuhey, wanted to recognize Ferro for his work and commitment to the advancement of individuals with disabilities in the world of entrepreneurial leadership. This award will recognize an Advancing Leadership member for their entrepreneurial actions in a nonprofit or social enterprise that will provide a positive impact in the community.
